Our Roots
From Taransay to Mingulay and Kirkcaldy in Fife
Some of our ancestors came from Taransay and others from Mingulay
In Bill Lawson's book "The Churches at Howmore" on page 20 and 21 The story about The Herd, Ewen MacLeod, Eoghann Baoghlach gets a mention. In this picture on the left, along with my grandmother and I, is my grandfather John MacLeod, Iain mac Iacian mac Eoghann Baoghlach.
On the War Memorial at Bornish there are names of two brothers of my granny who were killed in the First World War.
Private John MacCormick with the Cameron Highlanders
Private Peter MacCormick with the Royal Navy Reserves
Also from Eriskay are two grand-uncles of Angela
Private Angus Johnstone with the Cameron Highlanders
Private Edward Johnstone with the Merchant Navy
Rhona and Craig from Canada with Calum and Seonaidh
